Statue of Limitations - Da Boom Crew by StarlightGGiantess5 Statue of Limitations - Da Boom Crew by StarlightGGiantess5
In honor of Samurai Jack returning this week, I thought I would review one of its knockoffs. Actually this is the only Samurai Jack rip off that I have ever found. Yes Duck Dodgers and My Little Pony both have had a Samurai Jack episode, but I think those were supposed to be parodies. This in no sense is a parody. It is a stale rip off. Da Boom Crew is about 4 kids creating a video game, then getting suck into an alternate universe that looks EXACTLY like their video game. Now that's an interesting premise I'll admit and in fact I have an idea called "Infinitiverse" that involves a girl going into the realm of her own cartoons. :D And it will be a parody on cartoons itself. Do they do that kind of amazing concept in Da Boom Crew? No. Not even in the slightest. All this show does for half the writing is rip off other better products out there. And it basically keeps saying that I could be watching something else. But here's the thing on rip offs: they usually rip off one or 2 specific things. This show has at LEAST over half a dozen rip offs! PER EPISODE! And they actually EXPECT you to think that this is ORIGINAL! NO ONE has EVER gone to THIS depth amount of rip off and yet still expect you to call it original! It'd be like if Spaceballs was claiming to be an original movie and not a Star Wars parody. Or the Family Guy Star Wars trilogy to be a regular Family Guy episode. The second episode (which is this one.) in my opinion is the worst out of the 13 episodes. It's not as cruel or ear piercing as the first one but the writing is worse in this episode and pretty much worse than the other episodes. The OTHER half of the writing is the 4 main characters questioning about the world that THEY CREATED! I repeat, they created EVERYTHING in this universe, and yet they DON'T know what's going on at ANY TIME! Or know ANYTHING about their own world! And they all have super black racist and offensive slang! Except Ricki, who speaks in made up TECNO BABBLE!
So in this episode, the kids have to save a village from an eternal desert by freeing a gigantic robot to bring back the nature or resources or whatever to restore balance to the town. The location of this episode: This is Tatooine, I mean Tatooine, I mean the attempt to hide the fact that it's Tatooine. The setting is a DIRECT rip off of Star Wars! And everything in the Star Wars franchise is better than this, even the poopy ones. It's hard to watch this episode in its own right because of the dialogue. Want proof? I wrote down some of the lines said in this episode:
Nate: YO FUTURE GENERATIONS! THIS NATE DIESEL REPRESENTING! WE'VE BEEN SEARCHING THIS GALAXY FOR DAYS! AND I'M READY TO BRING THE "BOOM" YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING? HAL ATCHA BOY!:D
Skateboard kid: SURE! WHAT'S THE PROBLEMA MY ALIEN BRADA?
Nate: RICKI, YOU THINK YOU COULD HOOK A BRUTHER UP WITH A SIP OF THAT WATER?
HEY ALL! SOMEBODY MUST HAVE SHIFTED THE UGLY TREE. LOOK WHAT FELL OUT.
Skateboard Kid: DUDE! THIS THING IS BIGGER THAN THE NORTH SHORE DURHAM MONDO SWELL!
Ricki: NO PROBLEM! WITH DEN'S HELP I CAN ASSEMBLE A FULLY FUNCTIONAL CANTALENE WEDGE IN A JIFF! :D
Skateboard kid: JUST CHILL BROHAM! NUTTIN TO IT BUT TO DO IT! ;)
Nate: YO! YO MAMMA SO FAT SHE SWEATS CHICKEN GREASE!
Me: Does ANY of this dialogue make even the lick of sense? No? Good. Then you can see the FUCKING problem here! :rage:
They even bring up the words "Very own active droid." Implying Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars. It keeps saying basically you could be watching something better than this shit knock off! Also the villain does a force choke just like what Darth Vader could do.
Also in this episode there's this Blue girl named Etra. And after their introduction, Nate IMMEDIATELY does a sexist joke, and this all on TOP of ALL the RACIST jokes used in this episode! (The slang, their actions, etc.) And keep in mind, this is all aimed for KIDS! If this was aimed at adults, well it still would be shit, but at least I could UNDERSTAND why the characters are racist and sexist pricks! Also in the episode, the logo "Da Boom Crew" is spray painted in 5 different random areas for no reason. I don't get it. There are kids speaking incompetent slang, and yet I point out the thing I don't get is their logo.
When they get to the nest to collect a "boom Card" (That means they win or something.) we have a weird 3d cgi grass on it. Etra does a rip off of Terminator (Claimed to be a shapeshifter. I'd say MLP Changeling rip off, but this came out in 2004. 8 years before Changelings existed.) and she turns out to be a shape shifter. Do you know how they figure it out that she was a shape shifter? Justin gives each of the Ricki's a hammer and then asks them what it is. The villain says it's a hammer, you know, what the tool is ACTUALLY CALLED! The real Ricki says some kind of Techno babble that I couldn't even follow. Then the Da Boom Crew should have KNOWN that since they MADE HER! She's one of the main villain's sister. And yet the Da Boom Crew DO NOT FUCKING KNOW THAT!
Then they fight a gigantic robot in a PITIFUL attempt to rip off The Iron Giant! WHO rips off the Iron Giant? The Iron Giant is my FAVORITE animation of the 20th century! So seeing it ripped off here blatantly is going to piss me off for sure. The theme song by the way is a rip off of Cashmere. They stop him by ripping off Star Wars AGAIN by using that rope trick done on the At AT's. (Think mutant camels.) And then the town is saved blah, blah, blah.
I kid you not when I say that this episode is in my top 20 WORST animations of ALL time! It is in the top 10 WORST cartoons of all time as well! And I respect THIS animation the LEAST! Like, it's definitely not the absolute worst animation ever, but every animation worse than this I actually respect MORE than this PIECE OF SHIT! Where The Dead Go To Die at LEAST told an original story! Screams of Silence put more effort into its own shit! Hell, Alice in Wonderland 2010 Cinmatronic at least ADMITS that they are ripping someone off! I mean it, Alice 2010 was just stealing an Audio play from 1948 and all they did was "Animate" over it, but at least they come right out and admit they're not original, and they never even put in that much effort to rip off in the first place. Da Boom Crew rips off a BUNCH of stuff and they expect you think it's ORIGNAL! And unlike Alice, they actually put in a TON of effort to rip someone off! I'm amazed that they never got sued for copyright. And they only got 4 episodes out of their 13 actually released in America. Allen Gregory is not only BETTER than this, but it DID better as well!
And like I've said before, this show rips off my favorite cartoon of the 2000's Samurai Jack. That'd be like a cartoon today in the 2010's ripping off my favorite 2010's cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!
*Watches Teen Titans Go!*
Huh? Maybe Da Boom Crew DOES exist today but I just haven't noticed yet.
The only good thing I can say about this show is that besides the good animation (which makes some things worse, also sometimes the lip syncing is off.) is that it doesn't teach morals. Because of the unfortunate implications with the racism. The guy who made The Proud Family, a show that knows HOW to deal with racism made this afterwards. Huh and I just realized that it's been a while since I gave a show a "Show Strike." I think Pixel Pinkie was the last time I gave a "Show Strike." And that was what? October 21st, 2016? Yeah it's been a while.
I'm done here. Can I watch the new Samurai Jack now on Adult Swim please FUCKING NOW!? :rage:

Nate looks like he's gonna rape someone! Just telling it like it is. In all seriousness, this show is a "so bad it's good" for me. It's so bad, I can't help but get some good laughs out of it. Call it a VERY guilty pleasure.

Wait, "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" had a "Samurai Jack" episode? Which was that?

In Samurai Jack, there is an episode called "Jack and the Farting Dragon." samuraijack.wikia.com/wiki/The… I the episode, there is smoke that is destroying a village coming from a dragon. In My Little Pony, (Dragonshy to be precise.) a dragon's smoke is destroying Ponyville. Both episodes have our protagonists ascend up a mountain to try to stop the dragon's smoke. Neither dragon is harmed in the end. And considering Amy Keating Rodgers worked on MLP AND Samurai Jack, I say it was no coincidence but intentional.

I personally felt that was a reference to "The Hobbit".
